Happy 25th Birthday Hot Stuff!

On January 8th the most wonderful event took place, can anyone guess what it was?! No?! I'll tell you! We celebrated Nick's 25th birthday! Yay! I can't believe my husband, who is more like a child than a man, is a quarter of a century old! Oh I love him! And to show him I planned the best adventure for us to celebrate his big day!

After we got out of bed I made him pancakes, when Nick was growing up every year on his birthday his Mother would make him birthday pancakes. Well, I wanted him to enjoy this birthday as much as his one's before so I made his Mom's birthday pancake recipe, which is pancakes made with love, I'm assuming because I used the regular pancake recipe out of the cookbook she wrote with her sisters, which by the way is AMAZING! Anyways, back to Nick's birthday. We ate our yummy pancakes and prepared for the adventure ahead... the World Wildlife Zoo!

If you have ever been to the World Wildlife Zoo then you know what I mean when I say it is AWESOME! OH MY GOODNESS!!! This place is way better than the Phoenix Zoo. We had the best time! Not only did we get to get up close to the animals, we got to view them from above by riding the SkyRide! It's so cool! We had fun looking down at the kangaroos watching them hop around their kangaroo pad! We also got to get up close and personal with some animals when we visited the wildlife encounter! A host and 2 zoologists brought out several different animals and told us all about them! It was fun to see them that close!

The World Wildlife Zoo is more like an amusement park than a zoo! It has a train ride, which takes you inside the animal habitats! How cool is that?! It also has a log flume ride and YES you get wet!!! So don't ride it if you're afraid of a little water! Al the rides are great! There's even a carousel! But our favorite part of the day was getting to feed the giraffes! They are adorable and I wish we could have put them in our pockets and brought them home with us! At first I was hesitant about that gigantic BLACK tongue touching my hands, but it was amazing and fun and definitely worth the .50 cents we paid for pellets to feed them with. I can't wait to do it again!

We spent about 5 hours at the Zoo and we were busy the entire time and we didn't even see every exhibit! We can't wait to go back! But all good things must come to an end, right??? We had to leave and head home for Nick's surprise!!! Which everyone now knows wasn't so much of a surprise after all... and I'm sorry for that. In the future I will try to be better at planning surprises, for anyone.

So Nick's not surprise party was at his parents house, thanks again, and it was so fun! Our families helped bring the food and we enjoyed a yummy Chipotle style burrito bar and good company. Now a birthday is not complete until the birthday boy opens his presents, and presents there were for him to open. Thank you Borden Family for the totally awesome NERF guns! Nick attacks me with them often and I enjoy defending myself with the sweet gun you game me as well. We have the best family and I am so thankful to have married such an amazing man with such a wonderful family.

If you ask Nick, he will indulge me and say his birthday was the best, but I think I enjoyed it much more than he did :)

Love Forever, Nick & Ashley
